The Role: Chinese Translator / Dual Language Copy Editor (One-year contractor)

 

The Location: Taipei, Taiwan

 

The Team: The primary responsibility of the Media & Digital Content (MDC) team is to comprehensively edit and translate rating reports and economic research articles that underpin our position as Taiwan's premier rating agency. The team also provide crucial IT support for TRC staff, liaise with local and international media outlets to disseminate our research, offer proofreading and translation support for internal departments, and coordinate the release of ratings and rating articles.

The Impact: This dual position holds a critical role pivoting between English editing and Chinese translation and editing. As an English editor you will work to elevate the quality of analytical research papers written by non-native speakers, while as a translator you will serve an equally important role delivering high quality translations for publication. The role will fulfil enhance the collaboration and coordination between analytical, editorial, and data operations teams. Additionally, this position will provide full back-up support for senior editors, assist in commentary planning, ghost write short topical commentaries and general media releases, prepare and deliver editorial training, and publish reports.

Responsibilities:

  • In-depth editing and translation of rating analyses and economic research articles.
  • Provide editing and translation support to internal departments for non-rating documents.
  • Coordinate with editors and analytical teams to ensure the smooth publication of credit ratings and related rating reports, as well as time sensitive economic and ratings research.
  • Creation of charts and visual materials, as well as article formatting for global quality control and consistency.
  • Training of analysts in good writing and editorial skills as well as in-house style guides.
  • Disseminate rating data to media and third-party data service providers, maintain website data accuracy and quality.
  • Support seminars and various media and investor outreach events.
  • Ensure data accuracy through cross-departmental coordination.
  • Send out daily news highlights internally and TRC Newsletters externally.
  • Other operational assignments including logistics support to company-wide functions.

What We’re Looking For:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Team focused with a good command of written and spoken English.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree preferably with a background in finance or economics and an interest in current financial affairs.
  • Strong logical reasoning and numerical skills, detail oriented, with good time management and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Experience copy editing reports at undergraduate level or higher.
  • The ability to reduce the length of an article while maintaining high quality and consistency.
  • Familiarization with Microsoft Office software (with knowledge of basic Excel functions)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years of translation and dual language editorial experience, preferably in the finance industry.
  • Experience working in a multicultural, inclusive environment and the ability to communicate with discretion and diplomacy.
