Standard and Poor's Ratings Services and its subsidiary Taiwan Ratings Corp. are proud to present our fifth annual survey of credit quality trends for Taiwan's top croporates. This publication offers the most comprehensive views on corporate credit trends and profiles in Taiwan, outlining our thinking on factors likely to shape corporate credit quality in 2008-2009.

This year, we have expanded the scope of our survey form the Top 50 to the Top 100 corporates, which readers and investors will find more useful for its breadth of coverage and insightful views on the year ahead.

This year's publication is in effect, a sequel to last year's "Taiwan Top 50 Corporates" book. Our 2007 corporate credit rankings featured individual credit comments on Taiwan companies ranked 1-50 in terms of sales; this year's publication features credit comments on companies that did not make the Top 50 list in 2006 but made it into the Top 100 sales rankings in 2007. Combining the credit comments of both rankings, we have completed the top 100 credit profiles for investors in 2008.
