Standard & Poor's Ratings Services is updating the way it evaluates the capital adequacy of financial institutions worldwide. So far, we've published information on our general framework for risk-adjusted capital and we are now requesting comments from the global finance practitioners.

With this opportunity, Standard & Poor's wishes to enhance the Risk-Adjusted Capital Framework to a more transparent, consistent risk adjusted capital assessment model to maintain the comparability and consistency of Standard & Poor's Global scale ratings. The framework will then provide a capital structure analysis and comparison with peers for the banking industry.

Craig Bennett, one of the speakers from Standard & Poor's, is a director within the Corporate & Government Services group, and is Team Leader for financial institutions ratings in Australia and New Zealand. He is also a member of the analytical team responsible for drafting the "Risk-Adjusted Capital Framework".
